It’s the final Thursday of the month so that means it’s guest time. This week we have a whole glut of shiny talent to gorge on.
So, without further ado, it’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to Meet The Oickers!
Unfortunately, we’re not doing the Muppets this week (one day!), how about the 2004 comedy sequel ‘Meet The Fockers’ instead? You’re in? Oh good. Right, let’s meet those …er… fockers:
The Oickers are the awkward cousins of Broken Chair, both born from courses run by Liverpool Comedy Improv . They say if you lock a bunch of strangers in a room for long enough they’ll either kill each other or start an improv team, this is how Broken Chair was born (after chipped teeth, black eyes, smashed stools and grazed buttocks), but how about the same experiment in a zoom room? Well, you can’t fight someone who’s not physically there, so they just went straight ahead and formed a team.
They may be your new favourite short form team, but there’s one question… Where did that unusual name come from? Well that’s a mystery lost in the shadows of time. No one will, ever know… ever. There’s probably not a single person or podcast on Earth that can help you with that. Information deleted. NO ONE KNOWS.
Relationships: it’s what great improv is made of. Like the Oickers, having a mix of different people helps create fresh, unusual scenes by combining a range of personalities to generate unusual, unique characters and plots to the delight of audiences world-wide.
Don’t just sit there oicking your nose. Give them a follow and show some love to The Oickers – Improv Comedy Troupe , and while you’re at it… Have a great Chairsday.
Wocka Wocka Wocka!
